Primary school pupils from Moyne, Templemore and Lissenhall, Nenagh descended on Scoil Iosef Naofa, Corville for the county’s Sports Hall athletics final. The competition, organised by the North Tipperary Sports Partnership, saw pupils from third class to 6th class compete in a variety of indoor track and field events during an action packed morning the new school hall.
Pupils from Scoil Iosef Naofa (Corville National School) in Roscrea last week presented their headmaster, Mr. John Slattery, with a Thank You Card for securing a new classroom for them. The pupils bid a cheerful farewell to the prefabs where they have been having their lessons while waiting for the new room. Well done Mr. Slattery!
Corville School were the big winners on the day, claiming victory in both the 3rd and 4th Class boys and events as well as 3rd and 5th class coming second in the competition. Mr. Colm Dary, Corville School Sport’s Co-ordinator said: “It was great day for everyone involved which was thoroughly enjoyed by all who took part. We had enormous fun and were victorious in the boy’s event, ensuring that it was a memorable day.”

Pupils were able to pit their wits against other schools in a variety of events, including; javlin, medicine ball, shot put, standing log jump, triple jump, vertical jump, speed bounce and an obstacle course. The winners from this even will now progress to the Sports Hall county final, to be held at Athlone IT
