Roscrea Musical Society recently held its AGM in the Damer Court Hotel Roscrea. We had a great turn out as to the delight of our Chairman Tadhg Maher. The meeting started at 8pm and commenced with Tadhg welcoming everyone and proceeded to give his address. He congratulated everyone on the huge success of this yeas show ‘’All Shook Up’’ and how everyone enjoyed taking part in it. He also thanked everyone for doing their bit in the fundraising programme which was initiated at last year’s AGM and was formed mainly by way of a very successful Pantomime which was staged in the Abby Hall in December 2011.
Some other fundraising PR Activities which Roscrea Musical Society took part in 2011/2012 also included Strictly Fun Dancing; this was run by the Lions Club and was a brilliant fun activity both for the people taking part in it as well as the very appreciative audience.
RMS also took part in this year’s St. Patricks Day Parade and we had a great turn out of members taking part in this – We Had Elvis (Prionnsious Loughnane) arriving in his open top Convertible along with some of the cast members and giving the huge crowd a taste of what was to come in the production of ‘’All Shook Up’’.
We would like to thank all the sponsors and Patrons, both who so generously contributed to the Pantomime and the Annual Production with your continued support it would be impossible to continue putting an annual production. We would like also to say a huge thank you to Ivan Hastings Abbey Street who so kindly gave us a Place to store all our materials. To Bernie & Brian Colclough for their Fantastic Sponsorship of our Raffle during this year’s Show ‘’All Shook Up’’ Supervalu so generously sponsored the Raffle each and every night. This attracted punters to dig deeper into their pockets which made a huge difference with the funds coming in on raffle takings. To anyone who has been involved in any way in Roscrea Musical Society in anyway, your continued support and participation no matter how small or great – It is all very much appreciated.
Conor Abbott and Conor Harte Unsung Hero Award
Our very capable Secretary Gillian Wallace gave her report on the activities of the year , Gillian thanked all her fellow committee members and also all the sub committees for their co operation in working with her on the different projects as we prepared for the production, she went on to thank the Abbey Hall Committee for sanctioning a paint job in the inside of the Hall , this without a doubt added a more comfortable ambience for the audience came to view the show.
Congratulations to Proinnsius Loughnane who was nominated for an ‘’AIMS Award’’ this year. A number of people travelled to Killarney for the AIMS AWARD weekend in May of this year to be with Proinnsius and give him support during this very prestigious occasion, we congratulate him on receiving the runner up prize on the night, we celebrated with him drinking lemonade, singing, dancing till the small hours of Sunday Morning.
