Roscrea Rugby Notes:

ROSCREA 38            EDENDERRY  10
Roscrea dominated this match from the start when Cormac Bulfin scapered over for the opening try after a good run by Stephen Green after just a minute.  Denis Moloney , who was in superb kicking form all day added the extra 2 points.  The second try came quickly, following a good run by Willie Maher who off loaded to Paul Mc Namara who dived over for the touchdown.  Edenderry were yellow-carded for a high tackle and Cormac Bulfin tapped and went on a great break with David Carney in support.  The movement was stopped at the line.  A scrum followed and Edenderry were penalised.  Denis Moloney kicked the penalty and Roscrea were 15 points ahead.  The outhalf soon added anther penalty before Edenderry, in their only attack so far managed to get on the scoreboard with a penalty, but it was Roscrea who had all the territory and two further penalties from Denis Moloney left them comfortably ahead at half time by 24 points to 3.
Roscrea continued to force the pace in the second half and Malachy Maher got in for a try in the corner with Denis Moloneyu nailing a great conversion from the touchline.
Peter Queally put in a great clearance after Edenderry had mounted an attack and good work by Liam Quinlan, Gearoid Doherty and Aaron Carroll saw Roscrea back on the attack.  A great forward drive with Joe Smith Terence Kenneally and Liam Quinlan to the fore saw David Carney in for yet another try.   Once again Denis Moloney was on target with the conversion.  Edenderry never gave up trying and with Roscrea Relaxing a bit they got in for a 7 pointer which was the last score of the match and Roscrea maintained ther Division 2 A status with a comfortable 38 points to 10 victory.
This was the last match with John Lillis as coach.  His announcement was greeted with dismay by everyone in the club as he had given a huge commitment to the club for 6 years and would be sadly missed.  Hopefully he wont lose touch completely and he will venture over from Thurles for the occasional game that he can enjoy as a spectator.
