Representatives of Roscrea Credit Union and R.C.T.L.C were present to witness the historic agreement between the “Roscrea Swimming Pool Company” and the company that will facilitate the project.
Delegates from Roscrea Credit Union were happy to be present on the evening word was finally announced that work would commence on the much anticipated Roscrea Swimming Pool Project on the 4th of February this year. Work on the pool and leisure facility will commence on February 4th. It is estimated that the project will take approximately fourteen months to complete, so we can look forward to cooling off in the new facility by the summer of 2009.
Members of R.C.T.L.C who have fought long and hard over the years for a “Swimming Pool” in Roscrea were delighted to be present on Tuesday evening last in the Council Training Centre, Roscrea, to hear the news that construction on the pool would commence in February this year.

The pool will be equipped with all the amenities one would expect from what will be one of the best leisure facilities available in the country. The energy efficient pool will make use of all the renewable energy capabilities at its disposal including solar panels and a wood chip boiler which will make the pool extremely efficient to manage.
Cllr Denis Ryan (left), Chairman of the “Roscrea Swimming Pool Company” accepts a cheque for €400,000 from Semaus Mullaney, Roscrea Credit Union. The sum of money is the balance of over €700,000.00 committed to the Swimming Pool Project by the Credit Union over the past number of years.
The Swimming Pool and Leisure Complex will also be equipped with a gym and a café. Most importantly however, the facility will come with it’s own stand alone flume. No pool in any neighbouring town will have such a facility so this should make the Roscrea Swimming Pool a very attractive proposition for sustainable business. The five lane pool will also feature a children’s pool and a learner pool.

Chairman Of Roscrea Credit Union Mr Seamus Mullaney said he was delighted to offer a cheque for €400.000.00 on behalf of the shareholders of the Credit Union. The €400.000.00 was part of an overall contribution of over €700,000.00 that Roscrea Credit Union committed to the project over the past few years.
John Lupton Chairman of R.C.T.L.C praised the effort of all those who have helped the pool become a reality. John paid tribute to all the shareholders who have died since the idea of a “Swimming Pool” was first introduced so many years ago. John said the new amenity would be a major attraction for Roscrea and that he looked forward to watching the project develop over the months ahead.
