Kennedy Park Holiday Week
After a lapse of some twenty years the holiday week was revived in Kennedy Park recently. Following a parade through the park, the official opening was performed by Cllr. Michael Smith and a blessing was performed by Fr. Michael Harding on all taking part.
Competitions were held in races, soccer and hurling for all ages with novelty events such as egg + spoon, sack races, three legged races and slow bicycle races being very popular with fun and games for the very young every evening.
Tipperary Hurlers Tommy Fitzgerald, Diarmuid Fitzgerald and Conor O’Mahony were delighted to attend the “Kennedy Park Holiday Week”
After a week of some intense competition a fun filled day was held on Sunday last with a bouncing castle, married men and women’s races and a fun filled mixed soccer match all preceded by a wonderful fancy dress parade through the park which was attended by among others Santa and ‘‘Homer Simpson’’.
A surprise visit by 3 Tipp hurlers on the day Diarmuid Fitzgearld, Tommy Fitzgearld and Conor O Mahoney proved very popular as was the participation of Garda Rob Sheedy all week for which the organizers are most grateful.
Following the presentation of medals to every one who took part, kindly sponsored by Cllr. Michael Smith and Cllr. Pauline Coonan and crisps and minerals for Tom and Margaret Nash and certificates of participations from North Tipperary Sports Partnership the curtain came down on a truly memorable week of fun.
As part of the “Kennedy Park Holiday Week” a fancy dress party was organised with great success. Congratulations to all the participants.
